I'm not even sure that old Intel igp is more powerful than a PS2. It depends on the game, but you need at least a real GPU (Nvidia because driver is faster). Then you will be able to use the GSdx HW renderer.

gregory, i used to have a 3ghz core 2 duo with a g31 chipset/ iga 3100 vid card. if i remember right, ff x was mostly playable... but not at constant 60 fps...

So ? Did you conclude that Intel iGPU are powerful ?

No, I'm saying his gpu MIGHT be strong enough to run an old, unsupported version of pcsx2 in 1x res.. Is he gonna see any benefit from running the emu vs. on his ps2.. nope, might actually have better gaming experience on his ps2(probably), but he may be able to run the easiest games to emulate.

You been round longer than just about anyone else on this website (save for the other coders).. I know you remember when it was less accurate and only required a core 2 duo at 3ghz and a NVidia 9600 gpu as the minimum reqs.... Hes got the proc.. and his igpu may actually handle 1x rez, no fancy anything .. with speed hacks he can probably pull off ffx (is there any game less resource intensive?)

Now, my c2d was a 2.6 oc'd to 3ghz (ended up being something like 2.996 or something slightly off), and it took a lot of tweaking to get it there. It was a small form factor case, so heat was a major issue..

His c2d, in a full size case with a good cooler sitting on it, might be able to push up to 3.2-3.4... so software mode MIGHT be possible, again on an older, less accurate build (looking at .92 here lol)

I have run ffx on a core i7 620m which passmark says has a stp of 1300 still quite a bit low according to the recommendations.  I have to swap a few times between hw and sw mode to keep my frame rate up..

It must be optimisations since i had that laptop (we're talking a good 5 years or so here lol), considering the STP of the T6600 is only about 850 and i ran in hardware mode the entire time lol. Cant got back to test, since i no longer have the laptop due to upgrading to the laptop i had before building my PC.
