game loads then screen disapears
#1
So ive installed the emulator, ps3 pad works fine, ive updated my direct X and everything else seems fine, when i try to load Dave Mirra freestyle BMX 2 the game loads, and i can see the title page thats says Dave Mirra all rights reserved etc.... Then the screen just goes black, but the fps and stuff at the top keeps going and i can hear the sound, if i press buttons on the controller i can hear the noises, but still not visuals, any ideas? Ive been through the configuration thread and still cant figure out what im doing wrong. Im using a Dell xps descktop pc that plays decent pc games well so i think the machine is capable. ive posted the log below incase thats any help. Thanks

The first thing to do is uninstalling PCSX2 and installing it again somewhere FAR, very far from that accursed C:\Program Files...

Then, if the problem persist come back to further troubleshooting. Be aware that directory as any other under the /Users is bad idea even for PC games. You are subject of hard to track "access rights" issues which creates all kind of problems for PCSX2 and PC games using plugins and mods.

You can successfully install pcsx2 under Program files in Win 7. I have it there. You just need to make sure you make yourslef the owner of the pcsx2 directory (and subs) and give EveryOne full rights. Only takes a second Smile

That's bad advice and bad usage. ACL is a lot more complicate now that was in XP and before, even the SID and SSID are more complicate (and is yet more complicate in win 8 where even the NTFS changed).

Why persist in doing things wrong from start and having to resort to correct problems and possibly causing other if just installing games outside the "specially protected" folders resolve all problems once and for all and without introducing special security issues or having to play a game as "administrator"?

Reinstalling PCSX2 is too easy... I would not propose, let's say moving the whole Steam library but then Steam itself became aware of that problem after creating it's Workshop and specially because Skyrim and other modable games, and now Steam allows you to install games outside it's own structure (which for a lot of people is under the infamous C:\Program Files...).

Ill start with an easier one. When it goes black does pressing F9 on the keyboard display it again?

Edit: Sorry! I tested this, i should have known how to fix this, i broke it before the release then fixed it again after the 1.0.0 release Tongue Download the latest SVN from this link and all will work again. http://pcsx2.net/download/development/svn.html
