.hack//INFECTION and Metal Gear Solid 2 HELP!!!
#1
I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 Graphics card installed thats a 1 gig card... a lil over like 1024MBs
I have an AMD Anthilon II x2 2.7GHtz processor (thats 2 cores in case someone doesnt know xD)
I have 6 GBs of RAM

PS2 game .hack//INFECTION vol. 1
I dont understand why it wont work... I mean, sure it'll play ok but I am a perfectionist and I know PCSX 2 isnt perfect nor is any emulator but I want to get it as close to perfect as possible without affecting gameplay at all and maybe the sound a little bit.

See during cut scenes in this game I noticed that the sound gets all crackly and inaudible. I cant tell what they're saying. Is there a certain set of plugins I might need or is there a type of Modification I need to make to the plugins? I've done so much research on this but I guess Im an odd ball so theres no help lol. I tried my best not to join a forum for a silly game because I like to be independent. So now Im reaching out desperately because I'd really like to just move all of my PS2 stuff over into the computer. I actually own a PS2 and these games.

While Im at it I might as well mention that I have issues with Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty acting slow, I tried using a lot of the speed hacks and it doesnt work. Sounds slow too. I dont get it. I've tried so many different adjustments to the plugins and havent had any luck.

Also the graphics lag a lot when I look upwards on .hack//GU or if Im in a battle and there are a lot of monsters. The sound seems to be ok unless the cutscene is really action packed. The shadows dont show up either. Im starting to wonder if I really will need that new Phenom II 3.7GHtz x6 T1090 black edition for gaming after all.

PCSX2 settings? Plugin settings? What do the EE/GS% numbers in the game window say when you get slowdowns?

If you're really that much of a perfectionist as you say, I'd suggest you keep playing in your PS2 tho, no better way to play the games as they were meant to be played.

Speedhacks do generally cause issues with sound, however in your case the speed problem is due to your processor.

I would personally recommend going intel, mainly as they have SSSE3 and SSE4 support which the emulator uses, AMD's don't have these available (the bulldozer processor might). If you will stick with AMD, the 3.7Ghz one should be much nicer.

For now, to reduce the audio crackle, go in to the SPU2-X settings and pull the "Latency" slider up a little, that should reduce it.

So then I was right about the processor thing. No need for further details on plugins or overall settings?

.hack games (first series) are of the fastest 3d games on PCSX2, so speed is not the issue there and sound problem is probably caused by something else and yes we'd need to see your current settings for it.
MGS2 on the other hand is a very demanding game and then the problem would be mostly the CPU as mentioned before.

I posted these links of pics because I am bad at describing things verbally. So instead of confusing the masses I made it easy for all.
