hard disk went up by a double?
correct if i am wrong.
my current sandy bridge desktop has passed 1 yr. old and checking the current parts/peripherals prices but i looked up my eyes they selling only SATA3 hard disk drives and the price is nearly a double!!!

My hard disk:
Seagate 500gb SATA1 = 1900 php--->roughly 45 USD

In General Computer shop:
Seagate 500gb SATA3 = 3750 php--->about 88 USD

they sell hard disk are ALL SATA3(s) from WD all the way to Seagate and they prices in all brands is not slim and cool
is SATA1 hard disk was phased out???

My PC for PCSX2:
a Desktop:i5-2500(3.3Ghz~3.48Ghz),8GBram,HD5750,MSI-H67,Win7(ULT/x64),Win's Exper. Index-->CPU:7.5,GPU:7.3
a Laptop:i7-720QM(1.6Ghz~2.11Ghz),4GBram,HD5650,Win7(Pro/x64)
a Netbook:N2600(1.6Ghz/4),1GBram,Win7/STR

This is because of a price fixing operating that Western Digital got all the HDD makers in on. If it was in the United States, we'd send investigators. They're passing their bad choices as companies onto us.

Supposed to last into 2013.

I think it's because some factory got destroyed by a flood so parts to make the hard drives are more expensive and drove the prices up.

Yeah, and it finished, and they were back up to full production not three weeks later.

But it appears being 50% down for 3 weeks means 2-3 years of double or more prices.

The shortage is not made up, Mkilbride!
You're speaking of one of many fabs in the country and it only says that "it is operating".
These people are nowhere near their former capacity to produce drives cheaply.
Repairs, retraining, infrastructure buildup all take time and money and this is what we're seeing now.

Ironically, for someone who live in Asia and yet haven't heard this news... These fabs won't be in full production until late 2012.
