i5 integrated video or cheapest video card?
Hi, I'm a bit afraid to ask this since it would seem a question that is being answered a lot, but couldn't find very much information about it... Can pcsx2 run off the integrated graphics of a i5 2500k? I tried launching Metal Gear Solid Subsistence an I just get a black zzopengl window, nothing happens...

If as I suspect I need a separated video card - what does a video card need to have to make pcsx2 happy? I use linux so it should probably be anything but ATI, and of course I'd like to stay on the cheap side if possible...

looking forward to play games on pcsx2

In general,
Intel's IGP have been weak, and sometimes even with issues of their own (e.g. trouble with DX10).

It should work with some plugin,
but often will be slow, or see some slow-downs.

Have you tried GSdx with Direct3D9 rendering?
Or software rendering...?

changed to a 2.00 bios, and now when I try to start the game X freezes... I was logged in via ssh from another machine, and even killing pcsx2 and X didn't give me a console... had to reboot

abdo no witch hunting please. You don't think he bought a new PS2 with that BIOS but he COULD have.

Are you using the 0.9.8 release? Are you under Linux maybe?
Edit: Oh I guess you are, the Linux GS plugins have much lower compatibility than their Windows counterparts, so it is pretty probable that the game isn't working with any of the Linux GS plugins yet

so does this mean it wouldn't work also with a dedicated video card, or would that change things?

No, it means the plugins that are available for Linux have lower compatibility and have more bugs with games. If you tried it on Windows it would work with GSdx, but not sure if the speed would be bearable without a dedicated graphics card

RE: i5 integrated video or cheapest video card?
Ok, thanks. Unfortunately I don't have a windows install... Do you think a sub 100€ video card (like the gt 440) would be enough to play decently this and other ps2 titles under linux?
