I'm being a little pernickety at this point but, I'm also comparing this i5-4288U with an i7-4700MQ

I'm seeing their STR's are almost the same, but the CPU rating is vastly higher for the i7.
The clockspeed is slightly higher for the i5.

In terms of emulation performance, does that basically translate as the i7 being much better?
Or simply a better value processor or what?

Two cpu's with equal single thread performance should generally handle pcsx2 about the same. The i7 will absolutely outperform the i5 if you're using software rendering, which some games require. So, it really depends on what games you want to play.

Intel Core i5-4210M @ 2.60GHz, STR=1793

Went in to get the rig today, saw this ASUS just next to it, with the above processor.

The STR on the i5-4288U is still a little higher, but that's solely what I'm comparing them on.

The price of the rigs is the same, except the ASUS comes with 4GB less memory.

For those more familiar with the necessary specifications, would you have a preference between these rigs?

The asus has less RAM and a slower cpu. Ok, I wouldn't get that then.

Just out of curiosity, it appears these benchmark tests are accumulated as a product of peoples inputs which, for the i5-4288U, has only #15.

Does that detract in any way from the validity of the results of the STR etc?

All of the benchmarks seem to be consistent with each other, so I think the tests are fairly valid

Got the rig with the i5-4288U

GTA emulation.... runs.

It's playable, but a bit laggy in places, speeds up in other places, and the graphics are average'ish.

I guess that's to be expected without a dedicated GPU though, would that be right?

I have 28 days to return it (I'll tell them it's overheating or some *****), so if that sounds consistent, fair enough.
If that sounds out of sorts, let me know and I'll just return it and hold out for something better.

I might need to do some tweeks to speed things up.

Anyone recommend any particular youtube vids or something for this?

What are your EE% and GS% readings during slowdowns?
What non-default settings do you use?

Them readings are about 60% each.

I followed a youtube vid for fast performance

The main thing that's bothering me is the audio lag in GTA
