I have just answered the question... 6Ghz would be probably sufficient. But 6Ghz is not only not stable but i think no one ever got his cpu that high. Even those guys with liquid nitrogen were only able to get to 5GHz or something.

But changing the architecture and the medium might make it possible in the future.. who knows..

Edit: i see I am far off... 8.8 ghz seems to be the current record. Didn't know that.

I saw someone take the A10-6800k to close to 8Ghz on all four cores. Pretty insane.

Yeah, there are some games that are crazy-hard to emulate (like for instance, from what I understand it's almost impossible to get fullspeed in all MGS3 cutscenes right now). There's a thread around here with a list of difficult-to-emulate games, I'll link it back here if I can find it.

Yeah that's the one. Hmm, it doesn't have a coherent list it seems but generally I think people covered many of the more difficult games to emulate Tongue2.

Well, thanks everyone. and maybe I'll be able to get my hands on some liquid helium so I can pay Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on my PC, along with all those other games. Smile.

Not sure why you just don't OC that 2500k to 4.5-4.8ghz... So much potential being wasted nowadays by people just buying K series cpu's and not even overclocking.

Actually it is currently at 4.2, and won't go any higher. There are those that win the silicon lottery and those that lose it hard. I lost it hard.

In any case, that doesn't matter. I'm not spending $800 on components just to play four games. At that price I could buy tuner card or something for my computer and just run my PS2 through my computer (I don't have a TV).

[edit] I have other reasons for an upgrade, and I figured I may as well make some alterations to the upgrade if it means that I can play these four fantastic games.

For those who might be looking for this sort of question, I can confirm that after the fourth extra thread there is 0 fps improvement.

Depends on the game you are playing.

Some games it does.
