i7 940 Overclocking to 4Ghz

Would it be possible to overclock (safely) an i7 940 to 4ghz using a Hyper 212 Plus cooler?

Yeah... probably. I've seen close to that. It'll heat up of course. I'd stick to like 3.6.

Very well. You probably would not notice a difference between 3.6 and 4. PCSX2 does make cpu's run hot though so you'd probably reach late 70's early 80's.

Just go here and check when you need a rough average of how a processor will perform in pcsx2.

Scroll to the NTSC section of it to see Core i7 results.

My i3 at 4.2 runs almost like the i7 at 3.6 in pcsx2 emulation >_< and I can play everything at full speed
