improving gameplay for ncaa football 2011
#1
I must admit I have been playing around with the settings and initially I thought it wouldn't work and after some playing around I get a full environment for the entire game and great audio at appropriate times but the game is running slow. If you have any input on helping me to help others I am all ears. I am running the most latest version:

In game settings
FPS 40ish
EE:80s
GS:90s
UI:1

while in between menus it shoots up to
fps: 56
ee: 98
gs: 72
UI: 1

practice modes:
fps:50s
ee:90s
gs:90s
ui:1

runs slow for fps

Emu settings:
ee/iop*
-emotion engine recompiler
-IOP recompiler
-advanced round mode POSITIVE
-clamping mode full

VUs*
VUO MICROVU RECOMPILER
VU1 MICROVU RECOMPILER
ROUND MODE POSITIVE
CLAMPING MODE EXTRA+PRESERVE SIGN = BACKGROUND DATA I FOUND

GS*
BASE FRAME ADJUST 300
SLOW MOTION ADJUST 50
TURBO ADJUST 200
FRAME SKIPPING DISABLED CHECKED

SPEEDHACKS
ENABLED AND SET TO 3 ON EE AND VU
OTHER HACKS CHECKED EXCEPT ENABLE FAST CDVD
MICROVUHACKS ALL CHECKED

NO GAME FIXES ENABLED

First, we'll address your hardware a bit.

Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 @ 2.53Ghz
It's certainly not a weak processor, but it is definitely going to encounter a lot of scenerios with PCSX2 that it will be too slow for. Consider it potentially a bottleneck at times, especially if the EE% is running at or near 99%.

8GB of RAM (any flavor)
Just thought I'd "circle" this, and let it be know that most any amount of system RAM today will do for PCSX2 (normally). If it's modern, it has DDR3 and 2GB or more, and you certainly shouldn't worry.

nVidia Quadro video card of anonymous descent...
This could be fun. That kind of graphics unit certainly isn't designed towards our goal here. I'm not sure of any exact comparison, especially without even knowing the stats of your particular unit there. Seeing the GS% so high at times, and even at native res, makes it seem rather likely to be your culprit...

Now I should address your settings.
You should be careful with using so many settings,
or using some in excess (like the EE and VU sliders).

You may want to consider keeping some more at default.
Usually, if--

If setting the GS plugin for your supported SSE, DX10/11, and native res,
the Speedhack defaults [Recommended],
a tick or two of the EE and/or VU sliders,
and maybe trying the MTVU hack with (and without) other hacks applied--

-- does not get you good enough speed,
then your hardware most likely is too weak for the game.

You could always give software rendering a try (toggle in-game with F9).
It depends on your CPU, not your GPU, so speed may reflect this.
Also-- consider gving the latest SVN a trial, too.
Keep in mind that it's a work-in-progress type build,
but results are often better. Smile
