RE: just curious
That PC has a 2.2 Ghz Quad Core AMD processor which is a cut down Phenom II. Now, unless you can overclock it, I would recommend a more balanced upgrade than simply buying a fast videocard.

How much money are you willing to spend upgrading this PC, and what country do you live in? (For currency conversion purposes.)

edit: oh, wait, you live in Georgia. That's okay.

RE: just curious
How do you overclock it? And if i don't need a new gpu, then what would you suggest getting?
Most of the games I have played so far are great. I thought that it was my integrated graphics that slowed down games like shadow of the colossus and rogue galaxy.

RE: just curious
upgrading only the GPU is still slow
GPU performance is like-kinda idling while CPU is stressing out kinda always at 100% CPU usage.
best to change your CPU too Phenom class for AMD @3.0Ghz~ or if you want intel thats is not expensive Sandy Bridge Pentiums(e.g.G620) is the only way.

My PC for PCSX2:
a Desktop:i5-2500(3.3Ghz~3.48Ghz),8GBram,HD5750,MSI-H67,Win7(ULT/x64),Win's Exper. Index-->CPU:7.5,GPU:7.3
a Laptop:i7-720QM(1.6Ghz~2.11Ghz),4GBram,HD5650,Win7(Pro/x64)
a Netbook:N2600(1.6Ghz/4),1GBram,Win7/STR

The GTX550 is nowhere near as good as the HD6870, which you can also get for under $200. I found 4 models on that website.

I linked, but then stuff broke...

RE: just curious
@ ambient-Not sure if it supports overclocking, how do I check?
And your link did not work, I think its a global error.
@tallbender-could you throw me a link to the phenoms or intels?

RE: just curious
Well, when you boot your PC, hold down the DELETE key to access the bios. Look for some sort of clockspeed/voltage control related stuff. Unfortunately, some OEM PCs have overclocking removed to prevent ignorant users accidentally destroying their PC.

If you can't overclock, upgrading to a good Phenom remains a possibly cheap option.

RE: just curious
Just see if the bios supports clock speed. If you can alter the multiplier, try changing it so the clock speed goes from 2200 to 2500, then save and reboot.
