What exactly does the error say? It's hard to follow through if we don't know that.

Run it as administrator or in compatibility mode for windows 7.
Turn off your antivirus program completely when running pcsx2.

Very unlikely to have an effect on PCSX2, it doesn't do any DLL injections or anything else that should really set off a virus scanner.

The first option will only be useful if they installed pcsx2 into the program files directory. If that is the case, the better option would be to uninstall it and then reinstall it in the root of the drive (IE C:\PCSX2 instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\PCSX2)

That's really strange, If was a laptop one would immediately think it is due overheating (a hypothesis that should not be discarded).

There were reports about SPU2-X plugin causing problems in some builds, can you try using another plugin for a while for testing purposes?

Edit: this after following Koji's suggestion first, for it is very important, move the emulator to outside C:\Program Files it it is in there.

About Preet's suggestion, it could help in some cases where the emulator is in such Windows specially protected folders but it is not the better way to do things, best is not installing "ANY" games under C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86), yes, this is valid for PC games also, a MUST if is a moddable game and or use plugins.

Try changing spu2x to using directsound instead of xaudio2
