lookin at laptops

unless you want to spend a lot of money on a highend-laptop, then you probably won't find one that's decent for pcsx2.
in a ~2 years laptop prices would probably be low enough that you can buy a decent pcsx2 laptop for cheap, but currently that's not the case.

additionally, laptops have ***** cooling, and plenty of users that play pcsx2 on their laptops have overheating issues (since pcsx2 runs 2 CPU's at over ~90% during most of the game).

Laptop cooling has come a long way, especially if you get a dedicated GPU as the cooling layout has to take that into account. My overclocked P8400 only hits around 63C running PCSX2.

Getting a good CPU in a laptop is hugely expensive though. The only 3GHz notebook processors are Core 2 Extremes that cost upwards of $600 by themselves.

If you want a laptop that can handle pcsx2 you can check out an ASUS W90. I have been using mine for about a month and have had no problems running games. It comes with a program that overclocks it to about 3.2GHz also you could do it yourself and get more I am sure.
The only game I have that doesn't run at full speed is GT4, and thats only some races, most of the time is 60fps.
But like everyone has said its a high end one and is expensive 2k and up

How are you liking the W90? I've heard it has some teething issues with drivers but is otherwise a beast.

I don't have one from the first batch, which seemed to be the buggy ones. I haven't had any problems as of yet.
I am loving the machine, it runs every pc game I have at the highest settings(except crysis lol) and it does just fine with pcsx2.
For anyone who has the money I'd recommend it, although at its size its not a laptop, its a mobile desktop(18.4 inch screen!!)

That laptop costs twice the amount of a good computer you can build yourself, but the reason why laptops are good is because they are mobile. But you have to ask yourself are you willing to pay double for a powerful laptop rather than a good computer.

I only have moderate knowledge of computers and hardware, so building my own just wasn't an option. Also I have limited desktop space so this was a perfect match.

While this laptop is pretty cool, it's size ruins everything. 18.4 is just too big, if only it was 13.1-14.1... Doesn't fit normal-sized bags, so it doesn't make it any easier to transport. No idea why would anyone prefer to spend twice as much money as they would to buy desktop.. Is inconvenient transportability that attractive?Laugh

Actually it comes with a backpack/carrier as I'm sure ASUS realized it was too big for normal carriers. Hey Its not for everyone, but going from a 17'' screen on my HP Laptop its just a step up.
And yes I find this laptop very attractive Smile

Not everyone needs super-mobility. I for one just wanted something that was easier to move to a friend's house for multiplayer gaming than a desktop.
