nice work on the emulator
#1
I would just like to say what a great job the builders of pcsx2 have done. I have just tried this ps2 emulator out for the last few days and it runs fine so far. I did have to overclock my core 2 duo e4600 from 2.4ghz to 3.2ghz to get the speed running fast enough. this emulator is very cpu intensive, but what an accomplishment to be able to emulate the ps2 like this on the pc. I have just tried all the resident evil games and they all run very smooth with directx 10 at 1920x1080. the sound is really good as well after a good bit of tweaking got it in sync and stable now. again, great job.

pc spec's
xps 630i
windows vista premium 32bit
intel core 2 duo e4600 3.2ghz overclocked
4gb ram
geforce 9800GTX+
750 watt psu
500gb sata raid 0

well the e4600 core 2 duo is a good little overclocker for sure and i got it to 3.2ghz with stock cooler and temps are fine. i done this a fare few times before and there has been no problems with cooling.

these are the original settings i had for the e4600 core 2 duo.
current cpu freq mhz 2.400.0
cpu multiplier 12x
ht speed 5x
fsb memory clock mode .auto
fsb memory ratio .auto
fsb qdr mhz auto 800
actual fsb qdr mhz 800
voltage 1.4 v

all i changed to get it to 3.2ghz was...
changed the fsb (QDR) mhz from 800 to 1066
then changed the mem (DDR) mhz from 800 to 667 mhz.. i know some people will say i should have it on 533mhz but i done tests and i get better speeds using 667mhz without problems.
then i changed the voltage overclock settings from 1.4v to 1.55 v.
leave the pci express bus slots at 100mhz
thats all i did. and i have had no problems at all.

I got my AMD Athlon 620 x4 from 2.6 to 3.4Ghz and completely stable. Air cooled (with pro freezer 64 and artic silver thermal paste) and completely cool temps. I have it at stock again now though as I didn't reallly need the extra speed at the moment.

Anyway, point being that I didnt even raise the voltage to get to that speed, just the reference clock. Nothing else.
