RE: OH MY GOD!!
Just changed to manual?
Were there settings in place that took affect when set to manual?

Like, the FSB was set to 250Mhz.
On auto it was still default,
but setting to manual applied that setting change.

CMOS is the BIOS settings.
Usually, you can clear them back to default manually,
when the system is off,
using some kind of switch, button or jumper.

RE: OH MY GOD!!
Yes-- I see you know near nothing about computer hardware.
I'm trying to help you and teach you;
about what you are going ahead and doing anyway.

Now, if I'm not mistaken, that is why you posted a thread, right?
I assume it's for help of some sort.

If you're gonna say "Help me!",
then when offered help,
you just say "There's no helping me."...

This just seems silly at that point.
If you don't wanna try, that's your choice.
Just don't make me think you do,
let me try to help you succeed,
then make me feel like this thread is better off closed... Sad

I'm still happy to help you, BTW.
Your CMOS switch/button would be on your motherboard.
It is like reseting defaults in BIOS.

RE: overclock problems
You know how motherboards save the BIOS settings? They have an onboard battery. Those flat ones you sometimes see in remote and such. If you remove that little battery and leave it be for about 30 seconds, the BIOS settings will be lost and the computer will boot up with the default ones when you fire it up again. Just make sure you plug the battery back in afterwards.

That's the most straightforward way of clearing your CMOS. You don't often come across motherboards with a jumper, let alone a switch on them that does that sort of thing. The battery's always there though. Tongue

RE: overclock problems
most modern mainboards only use the battery as backup when the power is removed.
