question about framerate and "native" mode

Just kinda wondering, why is it that when I use "Native" mode in gsdx I end up getting worse framerate? (less than 60 fps, unplayable levels for some games like DQ8, Rogue Galaxy, Radatia Stories, Ico to name a few).

But when using 2x, 3x or even 4x scaling I playable framerates (well over 60 when not limited, with 4x usually around 50-65 depending on game.
used gsdx (ssse3) dx10/11, hardware mode. speedhacks never really helped when using "native" either, or atleast made no difference in framerate.


It was just something that caught my eye when I was messing around copying down settings that worked best for my system for 0.9.7 compiles.
Tried a few different builds, including the public 0.9.7 beta, same result in reguards to "native" being checked. only difference between builds were memleak fixes (yay!) and more fps when not using the "native" box.

Not that I'm complaining about the speed I get, just kinda figured native would get the higher framerate. Biggrin

Maybe with some proper screenshoot for valid your argument is nice in here.

Two shots from Radiata Stories. I'm not using mu usual cpu overclock in these shots, as it was just for a simple screenshot, so the fps in both are a little lower than usual.

CPU: E5200 @ 3.6ghz (11x333fsb), usually at 3.8ghz (11.5x333)--
GPU: ATI 4830 @ 700/985 (test results put this as fast as my work pc's 9800GT)

Now that I think about it, it could just be some compatability with my pc's overclock, although I'd think not since it's OCCT stable for atleast 24h--didn't bother running longer as I had things to do.

Make sure the cpu and gpu clock speeds run the same in both cases, could be some power profile problem or whatever.

Any power saving profiles are disabled, and ones that are not disabled are set to allow full power.

There are also no speed fluctuations or changes due to speedstep (which is disabled).

As I mentioned, the pc is fully OCCT stable (24h anyways) on both 11x333 and 11.5x333. Including prime/orthos and the harsh intelburntest.
The latter overclock is used when playing games, otherwise I use the former as this pc is also used as a HTPC and this lets me get lag free 1080p h.264 playback.
