r3878 crash (Not game specific)
#1
To start with, here's the emuLog.txt http://pastebin.com/wTZvLCU1

I've been playing Persona 3 FES recently, and it keeps causing pcsx2 to crash. And strangely, after the crash, it loads up the 'first time configuration' screen again. This doesn't happen if the game exits normally, only when it crashes out like this. I've had four of these crashes now, here are the errors as reported in the Event Viewer:

Strangely, it seems to be completely different things crashing it each time.

Options are pretty much default, as far as I remember. I'm pretty sure I'm setting it up the same way, GS3693 is in D3D11 (Hardware) running at 1400x1050 windowed, no interlacing, texture filtering on. Only the gsdx-sse2 version as my CPU doesn't support sse4 or ssse3.
LilyPad mapped to my 360 pad
Spu2-x, interp set to 3, audio expansion to surround 5.1m XAudio2 module.
Linuz ISO CDVD 0.9.0 r3878
Null for the other three.

Then when I do that I get a 'The configured GS plugin file was not found
plugins\Please configure'

Have to select the BIOS again, and I finally get into pcsx2.

Now I've written all this post, I'm going to try playing a different game, though unfortunately not Ratchet and Clank as I don't seem to be able to get that playing over 30fps, despite it being an 8 year old game, but that's not the point of this thread Tongue2 )

Just tried with WWE SvR2009, and its crashed again, after about 20 mins playing:

The emu log has some speed changes from when I accidently hit tab a couple of times and then the last line is:
Quote:EE/iR5900-32 Recompiler Reset

Not sure if this is relevant. That said, after this crash I didn't need to go through all the settings again.

Unfortunately, I don't know how exactly to reproduce the bug, it seems to simply be a matter of time. I tried reinstallign simply to a folder in C:\ and sticking the settings files there too, as opposed to it being installed in program files and the settings being in Documents.

Apparently nothing in the logs, they were all written 20 mins ago when I installed it. The crashes do seem to happen after around 15 mins playing though.

Specs: Win 7 Pro x64
CPU: AMD 1055T hex core @ 3.77Ghz
4Gb Ram
ATI HD5770 1Gb GPU (Running Cat 10.12 preview (Latest) drivers)
Creative X-Fi Xtreme Gamer soundcard (Latest 2.18.15 drivers)

Hope this is of help. If I've missed any info out, or can help with anything, please ask!

Looks like the Spu2-x plugin is causing the crash. Try setting interpolation to 1 and audio expansion to stereo, and see if it still crashes.

Thanks for the reply. I just checked and after the reinstall to the root directory, it defaulted back to 1 and stereo, and still crashed with the last crash report in my post.

Also, the crashes don't just seem to be limited to audio, as there's a couple of d3dx9 crashes in there as well.

Since XAudio 2 is part of DirectX and all other errors are sound related, my guess is that d3dx9_42.dll is in some way related to XAudio 2. Try using the DirectSound or portaudio instead of XAudio. Also try using a different sound plugin. Other than that you can try updating DirectX and reinstalling the sound card driver.

I'm not so sure, d3dx9 implies to me direct 3d directx9, which is a graphics issue, but then again I'm running it in d3d11 mode, so who knows :x
Tried redownloading DX11, but the installer said an equivilant version was already installed so I couldn't, and as far as I know there's no way to reinstall it.

Im quite sure this is a general system inatability issue, probably caused from your overclock. Even if it is prime95 stable it can still only crash pcsx2 (had it happen to me personally)
So first try setting your cpu to stock and see if the issue persists (also check your temps altho that shouldnt be it)

Second guess would be crappy creative sound drivers

Thanks for the pointers, I'll try removing the overclock next time I reboot. Would be a shame if thats what is causing the issues though.
As for creative drivers, I don't think there's any hope of Creative having a sudden burst of inspiration and coding a decent set of drivers any time soon XD Not much alternative though, besides buying a new sound card :x

Id give Daniel k's driver packs for that sound card a try never had a problem with those and pcsx2

Bah, default clocks, left persona 3 running on the title loop for about half an hour and it seems to be stable. Which is somewhat annoying, I was kinda hoping that wasn't the problem. I don't really want to lose the overclock, as there's a few CPU heavy games that aren't multi-threaded so I need all the mhz I can spare, but on the other hand, I want to be able to play PS2 games on here. Bah D:
Then again, 0.9.6 was perfectly stable, so I guess I could keep using that for a while, trying out the betas to see if some of them are kinder on my CPU Tongue2
