settings help...cpu not strong enough?
#1
Ive been running KH 2 with Pcsx 0.9.6.

Ive been using this plugin because it seems to work the best
GSdx 10 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.4

SPECS:
Vista Home Basic
Intel DC T5270 @1.4g
2GB ram
128MB Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS

Ive been running this game trying different settings.Speed hacks, cpu config, advanced, etc. The only plugin I have changed is the gpu plugin you see above. The problem Im have is that the game runs about 55-60 fps until far objects like buildings, backgrounds, etc come into to view.It drops to about 25-30fps.Is it just that my cpu/gpu is not strong enough to render all of those objects at reasonable speed or is it just something that can be configured.

This is my first post so Im sorry If Im not being specific enough.Any help
would be awesome!

from what i see you won't be getting good speed since you're using a laptop and pcsx2 isn't designed to work effectively on a laptop. Closedeyes
Windows 7 64bit
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 OC to 3.6GHz, Intel GMA x4500, 1GB DDR2

Actually PCSX2 can worl on laptops. It will just be too taxing on the battery life and the heat it generates.

I PLAY on my laptop so i can say that.

nah its not that pcsx2 was designed/programmed badly for laptops, its just that pcsx2 is very demanding, and needs as much cpu power it can get.

laptops can have heating problems when running at full-power for along time, and battery power is also an issue (if you're not plugging it into an outlet)
and a laptop with a good enough processor to run pcsx2 decently is pretty expensive.

but its not like we can 'design' pcsx2 to run better on laptops. laptops are just like PC's but with weaker hardware and crappier cooling Tongue2

PCSX2 is strictly frequency-dependent, and will not work better on quad core. get your dual core to at least 4 ghz for optimal gaming experience with no slowdowns of any sort, of any playable game Laugh
