shadow of the colossus fps issues
#1
After messing around with pcsx2 for like a day and a half now; i was able to finally get it up and running! However, the first game i tried to play was Shadow of the Colossus, and i cant seem to be able to get above 20 FPS. The weird thing is my CPU usage and my GPU usage never really goes above 30-40%.

My specs are :
Q6600 @ 3.0ghz
9800gtx+ in SLI
4 gig ram
windows 7 64 bit

any suggestions?

EDIT:
I enabled the 3x speedhack and i can now get 60+ fps; i dont really know why it works though lol

What version of pcsx2 are u using? Try latest 0.9.7 if you're not using it already. And Shadow of the colossus is very demanding. Unsure You can always try with native res.

you can try overclocking your CPU more to see if theres a fps boost. try going to 3.6ghz and if theres a boost then its obvious that its too CPU hungry and means you need to knock it down a notch by turning on native + speedhacks if neccasary.

native resolution has almost nothing to do with cpu...
OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 sp1, MoBo: Asus P5QD Turbo, CPU: Q6600 @ 3,0Ghz, RAM: Trancend 2x2gb 6-6-6-18 800 MHz, GPU: HD 4850 1gb.
Pcsx2: Always Latest

Use speedhacks and overclocking that cpu. I could run the game 40-60 fps with my rig in 1024x1024 is gsdx. Your rig is far better than mine.

For SotC, I used EE 2x Cycle rate, INTC hack, IOP hack, Status Flag hack and "Slight" VU Cycle Stealing. Not sure if it's the best, but I just tried it and liked the results. I've used the beta-1888 and March plugins, but the brightness and shadows are better with the special SSSE3 GSdx plugin for reduced bloom. Refer to the big Shadow of the Collosus !!! thread for that.

I have not tried yet on the new 9.7 release. Your PC specs are better than my laptop I used, too. Smile
