upgrading iix4 630 pc to i5 2500
#1
Hello ps2 experts. I have ii x4 630 cpu and gt 240 ddr5, which kinda sucks when playing jak 2 and running dolphin emulator games like zelda twp. So i saw a deal on cragilist for pc, which have i5 2500 4gb ram for $100. So is that worth getting?? I will use same gpu.

Thanks for making this emulator.

It'll be a bit better, but still, you' ll get bottlenecked by this awful GPU...
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go

The i5 2500 is more powerfull indeed but your gt 240 is outdated.
I would be better to get a 2500k and overlock it to 4,5ghz, its still an actual cpu, I still have it and I still won't change this year.

Thx for the quick replies. Yes i know my gpu is weak and i only want gpu that don't need psu upgrade. I looked at gtx 750 ti and cost is more then i5 2500 pc. So no gpu upgrade for me. Is the pc still worth upgrading?

whats your psu ?
you could even take a gtx560 or a hd 7950 from second hand, it costs nothing

I think a gtx460 is fine on a 300w psu, if its not a ***** psu with 300w written but instead you have 200w.
And the 7750 is not so powerfull.

But thats just an exemple of a correct gpu for pcsx2 thats not expensive.

Get a better 450W PSU (from a reputable brand) and get atleast a GT-740 (or) GTX-750Ti and you will be good to go.

Is the gtx 650 2gb ddr3 good? I see it going for less then 50 dollars.

@sakash no i cant because to much cost and hassle to upgrade psu on hp pc...

The 650 is good for less than $50. don't expect perfection, but your results will be much better than your current GPU..

but at minimum you should settle for gddr5 version. the results are far superior 2 ddr3.
