to anyone who finds this in the future, crashes were caused by blending accuracy being set to "high". setting it to "basic" has fixed the problem. thank you jesalvein for your help!!!

always start with default settings.
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
RAM : 16 Go
