what can i do to improve FPS
#1
i read the guide and got everything configed.
as far as i can tell i have done everythign correct.
i get the ISO Rom running but once it gets into the intro it hits
20 FPS Max/16 FPS Min and the video and sound is really choppy and slow.

i only got one ISO Rom (FFXI) to test the emulator and made sure it worked.
PS2 bios - usa 2.0
Graphics plugin - GSdx 890 (MSVC 15.00) SSSE3) 0.1.14 seems to work best.
Cdvdrom plugin - Linuz Iso cdvd (0.8.0)

the emulator is on my extrenal HDD so once i have this running smooth,i can give it to the other guys in my unit.

im lost as of now,i dont know what else to do.
i tried 2 diff PS2 bios,i tried different plugins, updated my video driver with 3 different drivers with same effect.
did the WGAplugin like guide suggested.

On the PCSX2 Menu go to configure->Speed Hacks.
try those they help a lot! make sure you have the frame limit on also (if you find you fps above 60fps a lot), cause when i put on speed hack my fps was at like 150 ish. frame limit is in Configure->CPU
PC - Dell Inspiron Studio 1735
OS - Vista Home Premium SP1 32 - bit

@stronze : Two thing i dont know right or wrong about your thread post. First about your ISO rom and you have 2 different bios. For first i suspect you have illegal copy of game (piracy), second seem you have more ps2 console, you are lucky guy, maybe?. But overall in your post is not good explanation.

Sorry to say this but.. with a 1.8ghz core2duo and a 8700M GT video card, you're not going to get anything more than 15-30fps in Pcsx2.

You can use the speedhacks but they don't improve FPS by much at all.

It seems you have a laptop, just like me.

Don't worry about your 3D card, because I, with an 8400M GT, can play various games at 60fps (full speed).

The problem here is not your 3d card, it is your processor. COntrary to computer games, where the 3D is far more important than the processor, in emulation world, the processor is everything, and a core duo at 1.8Ghz is quite weak for emulating a PS2.

I have a 2.4Ghz and there are games that slowdowns a bit every once, and games that doesn't even reach 60fps (still have to find one, but I'm sure there are).

If you can overclock your CPU (core 2 duos are easy to OC and does not raise much temp), then that will help a lot. But most notebooks are impossible to overclock.

If you want to upgrade your laptop cpu for playing well with pcsx2 emulation regardless the price of course. Wait until may or june 2009, intel will release for notebook cpu T9900 clock at.3ghz, P9700 clock at.2.8ghz then upgrade your cpu with those.

I dunno, perhaps still compatible if in same socket from yours but that maybe need update bios for your mobo, try to seek an info about your laptop. T9900 TDP=35W and P9700 TDP=25W.
