I was told that the SVN fixed the crashing problem of GOW. what's SVN?

Subversion. Basically, the most up to date version if you're willing to compile from source code.

Compile the source code yourself?
There's a guide on how to do it.

Keep in mind that you're on your own from there.

Another way is to look for people who have compiled it themselves.
But if you happen to find one and then having trouble with it, you WON'T get any support, and you might get a warning if you happen to post a link for it.
