windows 10 / pcsx2 1.3.1 - iso won't start
#1
Hello, a mate send me your emulator and I was hoping to try one of my favorite games today, no luck yet.

I can start the emulator on its default settings just fine, but trying to boot the (original) game either through iso, elf or game-dvd will cause the program to crash, with no information what exactly causes the problem.

I've gone through the trouble shoot faq & browsed the forum for possible solutions, but to no avail yet, so I hope one of you can help me, pretty please Smile . Curious to how far emulation of the ps2 has gone since last time I checked, especially on this relatively new'ish computer (from the log);

I'm trying to boot Klonoa2, maybe this game is known to crash?

I already have the Visual C++ 2013 redist x86. thing installed, uninstalled & reinstalled it just in case. Am going through the youtube configuration guide at the moment, but all the options in the plugin/bios settings menu are quite dazzling. If for every game one has to fiddle in menu's to select the best working configuration I think I'll just stick with the real deal Smile .

When the program crashes, the last thing in the log seems to be the graphics card being initialized, 'NVIDIA Geforce 750 (10.18.', maybe my videocard isn't compatible/causes issues?

I've also tried disabling the read only properties of the PCSX2-1.3.1 folder contents in the right mouse click menu & allow full control for most users, run in administrator mode. Somehow the read only properties seem to reset back, even though I press 'apply'(?).

Lastly, I've also added a folder exception to my comodo antivirus set-up, possible causing conflicts.

Cheers,

R

It would probably be helpful to post the full emuLog.txt file after trying to launch the game, that way people here can scan through it to try to find out why the game won't start. What you've posted seems only to be what shows up after just starting the program.

I'm trying to boot an original game dvd from dvd/dive here;

Quote:HLE Notice: ELF does not have a path.

Initializing plugins...
Init GS
Windows 6.2.9200
Init PAD
Init SPU2
Init CDVD
Init USB
Init FW
Init DEV9
Plugins initialized successfully.

Opening plugins...
Opening GS
Opening PAD
Opening SPU2

This is listed after the 'plugins loaded successfully' portion.

Searching for the 'HLE Notice: ELF does not have a path.'  on this forum for hints, I've tried moving the emulator's folder outside program files directly under c with no change of luck.

The game isn't mounted in a virtual drive, though in explorer I have a virtual drive listed. Disabling this virtual drive trying to exclude possible conflicts, I still get the same elf notice.

Additional info; I run a 2 monitor set-up, with the monitor's having a different resolution each.

After running the emulator and going to the 'plugin/bio selector' the log shows the following;

Code:

Looking at the log,it doesn't look like something you'll get from using the buildbot revs.From where did you get that pcsx2 version(it's like a mess of different plugins)

Also,that's not the complete log.
Start pcsx2 and in the console=>Sources=>Enable All=>when the problem appear,copy all of the text and paste it here

This log is way too short...probably that version of pcsx2 don't enable everything when you choose Enable All
Try the latest from here
http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

You will need to install Visual C++ 2015 redist
You can also try 1.2.1

Those .dll errors shouldn't be an issue, I believe that means they cannot be loaded, likely due to your system not having the required files installed (possibly some version of the Visual C++ Redistributable those plugins require).

I think it might be a good idea to grab the latest build of PCSX2 from here (http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php) and extract it to its own folder, then try to run the game with that and post the console log (or emuLog.txt) from that if the game fails to start. It's possible there might be an issue with the build your friend gave you that having a clean build sorts out, and the buildbot builds would be a better known state regarding included plugins and configuration than what you have currently.

You need to install/reinstall/repair the dx end user runtime. If pcsx2 runs but crashes on boot it is almost always a dx runtime issue.

This was it, installing https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download...px?id=8109 fixes booting a game from dvd-drive! Thanks all for the help Smile .
