xenosaga ep1 game still crashes while saving

so the only save on the ship is safe right by the one near the bridge elevator.

i beat chapter 1 and i asked me to save thinking it was ok to do so, but nope it kicked me out again and i got to do that whole section again

any fix for this?

also the cheat code for press circle to save anywhere doesnt seem to work which sucks

try to do so on your real PS2, you'll get the same problem
