Game crashes about immediately... The PS2 logo appears corrupt and then it blacks out. I've tried with both ZeroGS and GSdx in both current version and newest beta, no help...

Any tweaks in settings, plugin recommendations and such are very much appreciated.

Which PCSX2 version are you using? The game worked fine last time I tried it.
I've been using 0.9.6 and beta r1888.
Both work with it. List your plugins,your settings and make sure if you're running it from an ISO image to NOT have the image mounted with any other external program.
Also,use File->Run CD/DVD and not Run->Execute
