I'm on a new-ish computer that runs Windows 7, and DirectX won't install. Help?

what is the error exactly ?if there is one,if it refuses to install then that means that you already have the latest directx

It didn't work.

chances are that you maybe are using a pirated version of windows or you have a virus corrupted hdd and so on

It did'nt work doesn't mean anything. what error msg do you get.
does dxdiag command run ?
can you upload some screenshots ?
