Is there any way to make this game work without 0.9.8/0.9.7?

I have gotten a menu to load, gotten my Xbox controller to navigate the menu, but when the first cut scene appears it looks like this:

I'm not sure but I don't think there's a way to play Sly 3 on ZeroGS/ZZogl.
