Do I have to install the Xbox 360 Controller Drivers if i'm using win8?
Hey, registered just for this thread.
Just wanna say thanks for giving me the option to ditch horrible horrible motioninjoy for something simple like this.

But I have a problem.
Ever since the 1.0.0.103 update, I have not been able to get bluetooth working.
Whenever I unplug it, it just blinks as if it's searching for a signal and then goes blank after a while.
It doesn't even state it installs the bluetooth driver in the install summary like it does in 0.8.0.100; my bluetooth device still has its normal drivers installed every time I try.

I'm using USB\VID_0A5C&PID_21E8.

[EDIT]
Literally minutes after posting this I found a sort of fix.
I had to tick 'force install' for this to install correctly, even though in the OP it says to leave it unticked for windows 7.
Still have no idea why it does this, but hey I won't complain.
Anyone get the file recently..download still not working for me Smile
@ NewYears: Do you have skype? I'll send it to you in a file transfer.
Thanks, Scarlet.Crush, for the drivers.

I'm running on win7, and the ds3 works fine with the usb cable. Now I wanted to figure out how to connect it with BT.
My system is a Sony VAIO with a integrated bluetooth, so I think I don't need any adapter (or am I wrong? )
Trying to run the scpservice, it says that a Windows services must be installed (using installutil.exe).
How can I fix this ?
@Anonanon: I don't currently have an ETA, development is done in my spare time (when I have it ...). It's also a fairly large piece of work in the ScpVBus kernel driver, so needs to be completely stable before any release.

If you absolutley cannot wait - you can try using the XBCD drivers, you wont have Native XInput with them, but you can use the XInput Wrapper (bin\Win32\XInput1_3.dll) or x360ce (which is included with the XBCD package) to emulate XInput.

@Black.Reign: see Post #941 and reply to Anonanon above.

@Ocitda: kakdu reported that the changes did not fix the issue.

@Fox: the release BTH Rumble timer period was 125ms, the previous test binaries reduced the timer to 16ms, I've attached test binaries with a 160ms period. I've also added some logging - can you test with your game then zip up the ScpService.log and post as an attachment.

What REV are your DS3s, and how long have you had them?

@NewYears1978: I have no problem downloading the package from the Download Here link, or directly from the attachment list (IE 10).

@eD1s0n: Win 8 shipped with an up to date X360 driver, so there is no need to download the X360 Accessories.

@HolySt4r: ScpService.exe is a Windows Service, it is not intended to be run from a command line or by double-clicking in Explorer.

To Start or Stop the service you use Service Control Manager [Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services, scroll down the list to find "SCP DS3 Service"]. If you are able to use your DS3 it is already running, it is set to start automatically at boot time.

You may be able to use your Integrated Bluetooth adapter if it is connected via USB internally, however you would have to dedicate it to DS3 use. If you want to try it you will have to provide it's USB Hardware Id.
Thanks!
My Atheros Hardware ID is:

USB\VID_0489&PID_E04D&REV_0001

How can I add it to the supported dongles?

I wasn't able to tell if 160ms is better than 125ms. What about I test with about more than 300ms? Is that possible? Another thing is, why can't you test it by yourself? Do you have DS3 as well, or just Sixaxis?

I haven't tried SCP on another computer, only my PC. If you do have DS3 and you said you have never experienced bad rumble timing, it has to be something with my PC...

My DS3s are both CECH-ZC2U ("REV" as in model?) and I got them in different dates (like more than a year apart). Both are official DS3s from GamesStop, first one is packaged alone and another one came with 160GB PS3 Slim console. I think I purchased the first one in 2010... I cannot remember which year is it, but for sure it's after when 160GB PS3 Slim launched (2010).

I'm afraid that 'increasing' millisecond means rumble will be more accurate yet more milliseconds 'late'?
Hi, first off thanks for this - great alternative to motioninjoy.

I seem to have run into a strange problem though. When I don't have any controllers connected to my pc, SCP Monitor seems to pick up a reserved pad on Pad 1. I believe this is causing the first DS3 I plugged into my pc to not work.

I have since plugged in a second DS3 into the pc and it works fine. However, while I'm able to get the pad working on some games, there are others which detect the non-existent first pad, and any input on the second pad doesn't seem to work there.

I would be grateful if I could get some help on this. Thanks!

EDIT: Hmmm. I seemed to have figured out the problem. Apparently that first DS3 that I used is problematic - it doesn't seem to be able to get itself out of a reserved state. Once I plugged it in and it was assigned as Pad 1, none of the other pads I plugged in could be used as the first controller. Once I restarted though, I was able to get all 3 of my other DS3s working fine. No idea what is wrong with the first one - it works fine with the PS3 though.
@HolySt4r: added an update for your hardware id, see Post #1.

@Fox: the REV is written in very small letters after CECH-ZC2U on the label on the back of the controller. (A1 or B1). If it is not present it is non-REV.

I now have 6 controllers - 2 x SixAxis, 1 x non-REV DS3 [bought release day of DS3 in the UK], 1 x non-REV DS3 [bought around 3-4 years ago], 2 x REV-A1 DS3 [bought late last year].

I tested on 3 different PCs [with PCSX2 using Onimusha 2] -
- Games Machine, i7 2700K @4.6GHz 16GB, Win 7, BTH 4.0 Dongle
- HTPC, i7 920 @Stock 12GB, Win 8, BTH 2.1+EDR Dongle
- Test PC, Q8400 @Stock 8GB, Win 7, BTH 2.0+EDR Dongle

All DS3s test fine @ 125ms and 160ms. Only the non-REV release day DS3 has issues @ 16ms - sporadic Rumble, can't seem to handle the update rate.

On my testing it is hard to tell the difference between USB and BTH with the REV-A1 controllers, non-REV controllers feel slightly weaker in intensity on BTH. I don't experience any lag in Input or Rumble.

I'm thinking that your BTH Radio signal is getting interference from something.

@twistedties: the Reserved state is there to facilitate switching BTH <-> USB without the XInput Id changing.

You can reset the status by restarting the ScpService or rebooting.
