@zwinny: it looks like your controller is not a genuine Sony DualShock3. It is not responding correctly to Remote Name Requests and is not returning the paired Dongles MAC Address correctly.

SCPMonitor says host address: disconnected, pad 1: 00:00:00:00:00:00 - reserved.

@T-Dog: It looks like your controller is not a genuine Sony DualShock3. It is not responding to a Start Command, hence it never switches from Reserved -> Active. It is also not responding to a request for it's BTH Mac Address (hence the 00:00:00:00:00:00 in the Monitor).

Thanks Scarlett I still seem to having trouble pairing the DS3 I noticed that I have a error message on the host address of the monitor.

@DeadManInBlack: it looks like the hardware id you provided is not for a Bluetooth Dongle. Device is returning invalid Pipe Ids, and is not responding to an HCI_Reset command.

Was it displaying under Bluetooth Radios in Device Manager before you installed the package?

I've been using it on win8 for a while now. In fact all drivers designed for windows 7 64 bit have worked for me flawlessly. Just a general tip. Wink

Hmm actually I think you maybe right Scarlet might be an idea if you could remove the hw id just in case it causes any problems for someone else, sorry about that.

Any recommendations for a bt dongle/adapter for about a 20-30m range.?

@DeadManInBlack: it may be that it just needs an extra driver installed, did it come with a drivers cd?

My Asus dongle is Atheros based, it requires an Atheros driver installed. The driver downloads loadware onto the dongle at boot time. After the download completes the dongle reconfigures itself and changes it's PID from 3000 to 3002.

Best way is to first get it up and running as a normal Bluetooth device usable in Windows. Then find the VID/PID from the device marked as a Bluetooth Radio device in Device Manager.
