So, I recently downloaded PCSX2 v0.9.8.r4600 and attempted to run FFX-2 from my dvd drive. However the opening FMV was horrendously chopped up with half the screen black and the other half constantly blinking.

So maybe I thought my laptop's specs aren't up to par and would like to know if it is able to handle other ps2 games. Thanks
Here are some of the specs.

Mind you this is a laptop so... it's not going to have high end stuff but I figure some games should be playable lol.

get POWERISO from internet
create image file in ISO format
THEN either mount it or use the ISO option
I prefer ISO option, then it will run
as fast as my computer can do it.
if you dont like PowerISO then use
Alcohol120%.
...or get imgburn since it's known to work perfectly with PS2 games and completely free.
a few things you need to know, though :

- you cpu is clocked @1.73 ghz only, which is weak
- since it's a laptop, set your power plan to performance mode
- get latest svn http://www.pcsx2.net/svn.php and use MTVU hack since you have more than 2 cores
- keep in mind FFX-2 FMVs are VERY demanding (even used as benchmark here Wink ). Things are better when it comes to actual gameplay

Hope it helped Wink
I went to the power settings to make my CPU at 100% min and CPUID shows a clock at around 3GHz. Does that mean anything different since normally the clock hangs around 1.2GHz at default settings.
It's using turbo now, it might be better for PCSX2, fastest way is to try it yourself and see.
Ok so I tried playing FFX but the game is like on fast mode.... the music is too fast lol I'm so lost.
Press Tab
Sweet turning off turbo mode fixed it but mostly I had to increase stress for video so it slowed down a bit lol. Hope I can get FFX-2 working....
Good help guys! This is why I love This Forum!
well you wanna overclock your CPU to 2.10ghz? you have that option, it would be an added 10FPS or more..
but ive read you need to know some info and have a program called clock gen.
something about PLL the motherboard and having the right drivers for overclocking.
wish I knew more ><.
I don't think laptops let overclocking since I can't even touch voltage settings in the bios
