Game: Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal (ISO)

Problems: Very low FPS (9 - 25 FPS in game) 40+ in menus. Sound is very visibly distorted
PCSX 2 Version: pcsx2-r5128 (latest build from SVN)
Modifications: Speedhack Presets 1-4 tried, MTVU & mVU Flag Hack (both enabled)

PC Specs
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition @ 3.2 Ghz
ASUS EAH6850 1 GB
4 GB DDR2-800 RAM (RAM hasn't slown me down in playing anything so far, including BF3)
Windows 7 Professional x64

For all practical purposes, the game is basically unplayable and I definitely expected my hardware to be capable of emulating PS2 games reasonably well. Any suggestions or settings I should look into changing?

your phenom is a decent one i have no idea the reason of the slowdowns
what is your video card?
if you can overclock a bit, this could help.
this game is unfortunately VERY demanding
My graphics card is an Asus Radeon HD 6850, I'm doubtful that it is a cause of the slowdowns though. I can look into overclocking, but I'm seriously tempted to just go out and buy another PS2 (mine has given out) to play through Ratchet & Clank again.

Any idea if MGS2 / MGS3 would run well on my machine?
check your temperatures use CoreTemp.

MGS2/3 is consider a Megathrust~Catastrophic demanding i think phoenom won't survive that only intel-i w/ 4.8Ghz/or enough OCing~
might do that...don't expect that i try that game already on my i5-2500 rig(see siggy) i has slowdown in most areas.

Seriously, stop spreading that misinformation. I can get 100 FPS+ on 4,3 Ghz and with MTVU these games don't need so much power.

To OP: You are right that your graphics card is not the bottleneck here, your CPU is. You should have better luck setting GSdx to DX10/11 Software mode and setting SW render threads to 3, since the Ratchet and Clank games have serious performance issues in Hardware mode of GSdx
