I know it is laggy but had an old release from about 2 months ago that worked at about 55fps without speedhacks, then a release from a month ago got it at 60fps in towns and in battle with mvtu enabled but every other hack set to the lowest setting.

Got the latest SVN and in battle its about 45fps, 53-58 walking about and 48-52 in towns.

My PC spec is quite good

Q6600
8 gig DDR3 ram
Win 7 64 bit
HD 6870 1GB

I clean my pc with ccleaner regularly and the hard drive is fully defragged with diskeeper.

My Dragon Quest 5 maxes out at a solid 60fps even if I change internal res to 1080p whilst Grandia even on native res has no speed difference.

The speedhacks actuall SLOW DOWN the game, or at least they increase fps but the game becomes laggier.

I know Grandia 2 is a bad port but this isnt port related.
never had this one on PS2, but I wonder if it wasn't lagging on PS2 ?

anyways, could you please post your CPU clockspeed, and the EE% and GS% when you get the slowdowns ?
you have a quad try SW mode on GSdx (4 threads) and the MTVU speedhack

quick googling
Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)
DQ8,Grandia 2 and 3 is based on Cinematic FPS
play that on your real PS2 it's not really in real-time(Vmax) FPS
Grandia 2 has most even worse on cinematic framerate from PS2 version to PC versions.
The lag is permanent since I updated emulator.

Heres a screenshot of a basic battle but the GS and VU can drop to half that.
ok, so it's EE limited.. it's nothing you can do without recompiling PCSX2 yourself and modding it
Anyone who's played this game on a Real PS2 will tell you it has severe problems with Slowdown. So it maybe related to that.
