Note:

Does not work on the latest linux build. Standard speedhacks and all that. Just blank screen.

'Latest' isn't a term that has any sense in the future, so please state the exact revision you used.

Its a MTVU (Multi-Threaded microVU1) problem. Uncheck that and will work again.
Tested with pcsx2-v1.2.1-653-ged6bf53-windows-x86.
It seems to affect X-Men Legends 1 too.
