3.2 GHZ
2 cores
(the rest of my system fits the recommended)
(though i'm not really sure how to install a CPU to a Dell PC...
Dell PCs are odd)
(my GPU is equal(or better than) the recommended)
used pricewatch to find price
(if possible, if you have heard of this store, can you say whether it is good)
Its good for same PC Games (maybe) but definitely not for PCSX2. but why do you want a Pentium D when you can have a Intel Sandy Bridge.
And wait I am Seeing this right :-
Pentium 840 Reccomended Customer Price :- $423
Intel core I7 860 '' '' '' :- $284 - $305
Anyways must already have a Pentium D Ready Motherboard.
Ahh.. Never heard of that store.
you should not get that pentium D
if you are in a
extreme-budget get the Sandy Bridge Pentiums e.g. G???
and they have up to sse4.1. while pentium D for the sake of pcsx2 is only up to sse2+ancient architecture
take a look

think its 2.8 GHz D:
i was playing kh2 on a pentium 4 3 GHz
(i have a ps2 that refuses to read discs)
(i have a cd/dvd read drive) (that is old) (but works fine) (headphone jack, audio adjuster)
2.8 is decent and kh2 is already enough to run it.
Your CPU is a Pentium 4, so your motherboard must be old too. Sandy Bridge requires socket LGA1155, and I'm afraid no motherboard supports both the Pentium 4 and LGA1155.
In other word you have to upgrade the motherboard as well if you want to use Sandy Bridge CPU.

He would have to upgrade the motherboard even for the Pentium Dual Core.
Besides that I think if you're upgrading then gettingg a new motherboard like the ASUS P8 for your Sandy Bridge should be fine. Also it would be way less costly if you ever make your mind to get an Core i second generation processor because the Pentium G and Core i processors share the same socket i.e. LGA 1155.
