Comments:
Reaches the main menu, then you get an error that the controller is not found in controller port 1. Impossible to continue from here. Game is unplayable.

Bugs:
Controller is not being detected. Unplayable game because of this issue.
One thing to note is that the controller seems to work just fine prior to the main menu. (you can press 'X' to skip a bugged FMV, but after that it won't work anymore)

Tried other controller plugins like pokopom or twinpad?

I don't think the issue lies with any controller plugin, here is a screenshot
[attachment=55127]

If you look closely, you will see a text underneath, I was able to press some random buttons to select the language and then get to the memory card and selecting auto save yes/no. Of course, all that was hidden behind "No controller for port 1" thing. But sometimes the screen flickers showing what is underneath.

After this, it gets stuck while bgm is still playing and countless TLB miss.
interpreter has better tlb miss behavior than recompiler

(I would suggest to check if interpreter allows you to get in-game)

No dice, I run it with interpreter for everything including the VU0/1.. Same.

I tried running the game using a debug build of PCSX2, GSdx complains about some assertion being failed. Running it using GSnull, when it skips the intro movie. PCSX2 quits the game quietly.. Here is a screenshot.

FMVs are visibly interlaced due to video file encoding for television screens. Game runs above full speed, with slowdown only in open-water environments.

A few graphical bugs, very minor and fixed by Software Mode.

Comments:

Playable in the Menu screens and anything that involves overlays. The moment it goes into a 3D environment, large maps becomes unplayable. Small maps, in this case, Ramp Mode, can be almost playable.

Rama, a PCSX2 Coder, mentioned that this game has timing issues and that there's an emulation bug.

Source.

There are no audio issues. Audio plays normally.

Cannot determine actual FPS in-game, FPS counter (Hovers around 59.97~62) counts differently than actual in-game FPS (Approx. 4~10FPS).

There are two game modes that differs in terms of play-ability. In Street Mode, the main mode of the game, it is unplayable. But in Ramp Mode, a challenge game mode, it is playable. Street Mode is unplayable due to the size of the map, and is playable in Ramp Mode due to how small the map areas are. Therefore, there are two statuses.

In Street Mode, the initial loading of the map area takes a long while (1 to 2 minutes long). In Ramp Mode, loading is quick.

Bugs:

Timing issues when playing on large maps. Timing issues scales according to map size. (Large maps = super slow, small maps = moderately slow).

Street Mode (GIF). Take note at the top of the GIF at the FPS counter. This is the map's intro. There's nothing I can do about it to stop the intro. Input barely registers.

Did you try EE timing hack?

You also might try one of the EE overclock builds. That changes the timing on the EE quite considerably depending on the setting and it could provide light into what is going on.
