Hello I was wondering which proccesor would have have better performance for the emulator:
Intel Core i5 2320 @ 3.1GHz with 4GB of RAM
or
Intel Core i3 2120 @ 3.3GHz with 8GB of RAM?
I can clarify one thing for you, having huge RAMs don't affect PCSX2 performance.

Unless it's too small like 256 MB or lower. Tongue
Intel Core i5 2320 @ 3.1GHz with 4GB of RAM

Because it has 4 cores. And as IQZ said that diffrence in RAM won't affect PCSX2 at all.
i3-2120 if you want some spare cash. If you have money to burn, then get the i5. The difference isn't THAT huge though. I'm using one myself and can play games perfectly with it. Maybe you could invest on an i3, but instead get a better video card.

your forgetting mtvu hack that speeds up emulation quite a bit.

I was going to say that as well ;P Also a nice little trait that the I5 has, it can be over-clocked to a nice high level and requires no tweaking, you literally just go into the bios and set the profile to +20% and it'll rock fine, the i3 however can't do that as well.

And more ramz doesn't mean you'll emulate better, if you have more ram it means you can have other (non-intensive cpu) programs open alongside the emulator.

Mainly you want to worry about your CPU and GFX card, get yourself a nice stable graphics card. Such as a gtx ti series, 550 or 560 (if you have the cash). And if you don't have the cash, even the gtx 440 still pumps out a LOT of power for emulation.

;P Regards
I5 deffinitelly. If you get it,you can spend additional money for Z77 chipset,Z77 Pro4-M for example, and to gain advantage from ASROCK NO "K" OverClock function that they added with latest bioses of all Z75/Z77 chipsets. i5 2320 has turbo freq up to 3.3 GHZ. With ASrock Z77 mobo and latest bios you can achieve 3.6 Ghz on ALL cores simultanesly! (standart turbo, 3.3 GHz is boost if only one core is o full load,if 4cores are loaded, you wil et only 3.1 Ghz=100mhz gain which is little...)

i3 2120 can make use of MTVU too. I could pretty much play PS2 games fine. He could invest the rest of the money on a good graphics card, since all that processing power will go to waste if he has a mediocre card to run with it.

not as good as a quad core Wink

I said, if he has enough money to get a good graphics card with it then go ahead. Having a med high tier CPU with a good GPU is better than having a high tier CPU with a low end GPU. It all depends on OP's budget.
