Hi everyone
I tried to install pcsx2 in my ubuntu 12.04 and everything seems fine until i tried to configure i can not change the video driver from the configuration menu i just have the option of gsnull but not the gsdx option, am i missing to install something?

i hope you could help me because i want to play some old ps2 games so bad

thanks
You miss some dependencies. Just install the PPA => https://launchpad.net/~gregory-hainaut/+...ficial.ppa
what dependencies? how do i download those?

thanks for your answer
i install the pcsx2 now from the repository and is running great Laugh but now is slow, how do i configure this?
For now there is not a whole lot you can do about speed except overclock your CPU and try out GSdx vs ZZogl. ZZogl "No targets resolves" hack sometimes can help with speed. Since HW mode is not working due to weird Linux GPU drivers we are stuck with SW mode for who knows how long. And of course SW mode = slow.
So i cant do anything else to speed up the pcsx2? Sad btw these are the specs of my laptop

Host Machine Init:
Operating System = Linux 3.2.0-34-generic-pae i686
Physical RAM = 5519 MB
CPU name = AMD A8-3500M APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics
Vendor/Model = AuthenticAMD (stepping 00)
CPU speed = 1.496 ghz (4 logical threads)
x86PType = Standard OEM
x86Flags = 178bfbff 00802009
x86EFlags = efd3fbff

i think i dont have a problem with my laptop i have run games even newer like fifa 12 then why i can not run a ps2 emulator

i hope you can help me thanks
With only 1.5 ghz you are lucky anything on PCSX2 runs. Here is a thread worth reading.

http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Will-PCSX...puter-copy

This thread assumes Windows and HW mode using DirectX. We on Linux only have SW mode as HW mode is very buggy due to Linux GPU drivers for both Nvidia and AMD. I am at 3.6 ghz on my AMD A8-5600k Piledriver APU and I have lots of trouble running games on my system. Even my Sandy Bridge i3 wasn't too great either.

When it comes to regular computer games, your fps is mainly driven by the GPU. In emulation your fps is mainly driven by the CPU. In PCSX2 HW mode the GPU lends an assist with it's "muscle," but in SW mode the accuracy increases, but you get no "muscle" from the GPU, hence native res and slower (yet more accurate) performance.

Like I mentioned in this thread, your only other option is perhaps a mild frame skip. For me, it made my game always freeze but it is still worth a try.
