Make sure dualcore mode is enabled.
It could be a slow game though, in which case your cpu won't be enough..

Try DirectX10 Mode ( requires Vista ). But most likely your system is way to weak for this game.

Look in the CPU config dialog (MTGS). Reading the official guide may also help.
About your weak PC: For some games a 3 GHz Core 2 Duo and a Geforce 8800 GT are the bare minimum to get near full speed.

Why is the ingame time depending on the framerate? I'm guessing the real ps2 never reaches a real framerate of 50 or 60. It seems the time which passes by in one frame is fixed.
Maybe I configured something not right?
GT4 runs actually bretty fast with 30 - 60 fps and sometimes even more.

The real PS2 uses fixed framerates of 60 (PAL 50). In each frame the same amount of game time passes. That means when your PC can only emulate 30fps the game runs at 50% speed. There is no way to do this differently. The games are designed to output frames at that speed and they do not compute game time depending on the time a frame takes to render.
The advantage though is that, having a powerful PC, you can run the boring parts of a game at 200% speed

right, I think it was made in the same way for the ps1.
Does that mean we can't really expect more performance boosts only by optimizing the code? I'm guessing the guys already writing theire code pretty fast. Probably only faster machines in a few years would solve the speed problem.
