The servers are still up.
And I followed the guide.
The program keeps crashing every time I try to pick a new plugin instead of the "null" one.

"No hardware is connected" means that it believes that there is no Network Adapter detected. I've never tried to play online thru PCSX2, so I have no idea what plugins(s) you'd need to remedy this.
