There has to be some kind of combination of settings that gives you a decent framerate without slowdowns managing to look decent. I have an alienware and my game still runs like I had a PC from 2002.
What am I doing wrong? Anybody here got some decent settings to make MGS2 and MGS3 work on the emulator?

I'd play the MGS2 port for PC, but the controls are broken beyond repair at this point.
In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

Latest version.
Not that I know of, examples?
MGS2 and MGS3.
I see.
your CPU is too slow for those particular games.
You can try tinkering with speedhacks, but since it's hard to achive full speed even on the best desktop CPUs, yours will have a hard time doing so.

Back to your PS2 for those particular games, I guess.
Sry Sad

I mean, 3.5 GHz is pretty good.
Are there any PCs that can run these games? Sounds like they are overwhelmingly demanding.
3.5 ghz is good when you have it on all cores.
The turbo boost techonology won't give you that.
To give you an example, I get full speed on mGS3 with a few speedhacks, except in cutscenes of course.

Yeah, the cutscenes were my main problem too in MGS2.
Still haven't tried MGS3.

It's a pity, btw, I'd play them on my PS2 but my controllers are all broken for some reason.

Thanks for the help anyways.
Mgs2 too is quite a bit worse than 3. I get slowdowns in the cut scenes with both though. I can play MGS3 full speed but not 2.

I'll try finishing 2 on PC and try 3 on emulator then.
Well make sure you laptop is set to high performance mode and make sure it's plugged in.
