Hi, I tried PCSX2 today on my laptop, I use the same setting as my desktop.

PCSX2 ver
v1.3.1-1052-g4a743ac-windows-x86
GSDX using Reference Device on D3D9 Software mode
ISO rip from CD
Lilypad SVN + DS3 with SCP for pressure sensitivity
memcards and sstates are "synced" across two systems with google drive
BIOS PS2 V2 USA 14/06/2004

I tried Ace Combat 4/5/0 with my desktop and the fps is maintained flat 60. According to guides, you are supposed to use your CPU to render the game in order to avoid the weird graphical bugs such as weird ground texture and vertical lines.

5820K @4.2 (HT)
16GB 2400 CAS11
GTX Titan X @1470/3744
GSDX extra render threads: 11 (1 default + 11?)

The CPU doesn't get used too much with this desktop.

However I have i5 laptop, I bought this on 2010 I believe.
This system is struggling to maintain above 40fps, CPU usage on all 4 cores (HT) tend to hover around 75-80%.

i5 2450M @2.7-2.9 (doesn't thermal throttle)
8GB 1333
GT 630M (540M) @797/900
GSDX extra render threads: 3 (1 default + 3?)

Anyone have a solution to have the laptop above run 60fps consistently? Thanks in advance.
PCSX2 will usually max out your CPU cores (up to 3 with the MTVU speedhack, but you only have 2 in the laptop, so that's out Tongue ) It would be worth checking your GSDX settings to make sure it is using your GT 630M and not the intel card, you might need to make a PCSX2 profile in the control panel.

It could be worth grabbing the latest Git/Development build and trying that as that tried to use your discrete graphics card automatically.

Side note: HT doesn't really help emulation, treat it as though you are using 2 cores.

So extra rendering threads is 1 (1+1?) instead of 3 (HT)?

I cannot use the GPU since that will result in graphical glitches.
if you get graphical glitches i would recommend updating your gpu drivers
ur comparing a 6c/12t haswell-e with a gtx titan X to a 2c/4t sandy bridge with a gt 630m, no wonder? do u know just exactly how much of a monstrous power difference u have between ur laptop & deskop, both on the cpu & gpu end? and ur laptop doesnt have 4 cores, it has 2 with ht, 2 cores 4 threads isnt 4 cores 4 threads. mobile i5's are weaker than they should be unlike their desktop parts, as they are hyperthreaded dual cores, desktop i5 are non hyperthreaded quadcores. still hoping one day intel will move desktop i5's to mobile, or at least make the mobiles tri cores..

the difference in power is so huge its like earth vs jupiter in size. having a desktop like u do, even listing clock speeds, i would of thought u have the know how about computers to know ur laptop is a spec in performance vs the desktop.
Yeah the 5820K just molests any mobile i5. It's like comparing a koenigsegg agera r to a prius. There's really nothing that can be done about the laptop.

There are some issues still present in hardware due to lack mip mapping.

If I render with GPU on either machines, I would get graphical glitches such as black skies and messed up ground textures.

My i5 mobile does have HT though
I would've thought that a ps2 game wouldn't consume as much resource on a modern machine.

HT doesn't boost performance, that's an old wives tale, in fact it doesn't even give you the performance of 3 cores let alone 4. It's there simply to try and reduce the overhead of multithreading on intensive applications like photo editors, 3d modelling and video editing, it has zero (in some cases it can be detrimental) impact to gaming/emulator performance.
So there's no hope in running pcsx2 on the laptop?
Laptop is just to weak for this PCSX2 game.
