Recently, I've been playing MGS3: Subsistence Disk 1 and Disk 2 and it has been working perfectly. Until today, that is. I booted up Disk 1, hoping to continue where I left off, but it couldn't load my save file! I tried booting up Disk 2 (whose save file was also on Memory Card 1) and worked just fine. This problem seems to be isolated to Disk 1. Could anyone help me?
are you using a folder memorycard by chance?

if so I need to know the serial (SL#S bit and following numbers) that you get for each disc.

What do I do with the serial?
Type it here Tongue I need the one from each disc, not just one of them.

Once you've done that, I can tell you what to do next

Disk 1: SLUS-21359
Disk 2: SLUS-21243
Here you go! Biggrin
ok open the gamedb.dbf file in a text editor of some kind and find this entry

Code:
---------------------------------------------
Serial = SLUS-21359
Name   = Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence [Disc1of3]
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
---------------------------------------------

once you have found it, add this line before the last line of ----'s so it looks like this

Code:
---------------------------------------------
Serial = SLUS-21359
Name   = Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence [Disc1of3]
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
MemCardFilter = SLUS-21243/SLUS-21359
---------------------------------------------

You should see Disc3of3 right underneath that one which does a very similar thing.
Then save, that should do it Smile

I opened GameIndex.dbf, and was greeted by the following:
Code:
---------------------------------------------
Serial = SLUS-21243
Name   = Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
---------------------------------------------
and:

Code:
Serial = SLUS-21359
Name   = Metal Gear Solid 3 - Subsistence [Limited Edition] [Disc2of3]
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
---------------------------------------------
Why are the serials switched around? Should I proceed?
I tried, having only switched the serials around, but it still doesn't work. The emulator recognizes the memory cards until I attempt to load the save file, and only then does it start saying that there is no memory card! I'm confused.
No you don't switch those serials around, you were supposed to add this line to the bottom, just above the long ---- line
Code:
MemCardFilter = SLUS-21243/SLUS-21359

It still doesn't seem to work...
