Full Version: Trying to recover a pcsx2 savefile from old hard drive

Hello,

I have an old hard drive that I am trying to recover files from. There are many file recovery apps I've looked at, and I can recover normal files (like .jpg or .mp3) with ease. But these file recovery systems do not recognize .ps2 or .p2s files.

Meaning there is no way for me to recover a savefile for an emulator.

I have looked at a file recovery app that allows a user to search for custom file types. The user can create a custom template for a unique file type, and then the program will search for files of that type. Here is a link for more info on the process:

I can't make any sense out of this. The file header criteria and the file footer criteria seem very vague and I don't know what to put there.
If anyone can help me out with this, it would be great!

Alternatively, is there any other way for one to recover a .ps2 or .p2s save file from an old hard drive? (I should note that the hard drive doesn't just let me look inside it normally. The only ways I was able to get files out of it so far was through file recovery apps)
Thank you, I am trying it now.

When I plug in the USB cable (which is attached to my old hard drive that I put inside a case), three things appear on my "This PC" window:
Local Disk (E: ) which has 83.9 MB free of 99.9 MB
Local Disk (F: ) which has 919 GB free of 920 GB
FACTORY_IMAGE (G: ) which has 1.62 GB free of 11.3 GB

I am currently scanning Local Disk F with recuva. Will come back with a report on what happened.
Thanks, I was able to find it and recover it.
