If you want a completely honest answer, it will "work" but it will be so horribly slow it probably wouldnt be very playable. Worst than can happen is you try it and what you have read his is completely right, if it does work at a reasonable pace, thats a bonus! Best just to try for yourself and see how it runs, instead of leaving it to everybody elses guess work
You picked a bad game to try and play. Metal Gear Solid 3 is very resource heavy and you will get awful frame rates. I have a Q6600 at 2.7GHZ and i only get just above half speed. If you were playing something like Final Fantasy X you may have stood a chance, but MTG3 no way.
