So when I begin to play the game it suddenly drops to 8-11fps and runs very slowly/choppy, and sometimes my comp will turn off. Everything before the game (the videos etc.) run smoothly.

Here is me ingame ~ http://img268.imageshack.us/i/ingamep.jpg/

Here is some info about my comp:
Processor: AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor 2400+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 510MB RAM
Page file: 382MB used, 862 MB available
Display: RADEON X700 Series by ATI (with 256.0 MB) ~~What does vid card MB supposed to mean/do? Lol sorry I don't know computers.

Here are pictures of my config:

http://img197.imageshack.us/i/speedhacksz.jpg/ ~SPEED HACKS (I don't know what speed hacks do. Does it make your game speed up? Hence by game being slow, will it make it run faster?)

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Oooh...too weak CPU...enable all speed hacks/VU skip,or use the PCSX2 Beta 1474 i think is the latest..check it out...

Edit : Check the Use 2.0x speed cycle rate in Speed Hacks,Check INTC Sync hack, checK Enable IOP 2 Sync rate..
In CPU settings check VU SKip (leave the zeroes...)

btw,you have a VERY bad pc for pcsx2...sorry..Sad
well, you are way below the recommended specs in all categories Laugh sorry, but it's unlikely that this game will run fluently on your system, as it needs both a powerful processor and graphics card for full speed. but try the usual things anyway: update your pcsx2 and plugins to the latest beta, get the revision 1398 of gsdx (might be faster than the latest gsdx beta on your ati gpu), set your gsdx to native, enable the speed hacks "vu cycle stealing" and "ee sync hack" (try vu first then ee), and make sure you run an iso image of the game directly from your hdd with linuziso as your cdvd plugin. a developer of this emulator confirmed that the intro tutorial scene of this game is quite demanding, so try if it runs better after the first save crystal. btw, what do you mean with "my comp will turn off"? you mean it shuts itself down? or a sudden reboot? cause that could indicate a problem with your cooling.
didn'y you see the images...he didn't even use speed hacks/cpu vu skip, and probably cpu advanced..Smile

and yes,of course, you must check the "use native resolution" in the GSDX config screen..Smile

Yeah my comp has shut off a few times while I was running the emulator.

Thanks for all the great advice guys I really appreciate it!

Also, let's say I decided to upgrade my computer specs, how much $ should I look to invest and what areas are most needed in upgrading? My current specs have let me run WoW very smoothly in the past.

I can't seem to find "use native resolution" in the GSDX screen, could you give me some directions?

Wait... I think I found it... D3D Internal Res "box" Native.. So it's checked, going to try running it with the new configs. Thanks.
The settings actually made things a lot worse. FPS is still 10 none the less.
DID YOU DO ALL THAT I SAID IN MY FIRST RESPONSE???

Sorry for shouting,but you weren't answering..Smile

Yeah and it ran way worse lol. The videos that play when I first start the game were like skipping. And once I got to the tutorial part it was still 10fps and it froze.
10fps looks more like an outside problem. try the latest beta or try closing some program that might be using your RAM althou i doubt it. Try different ATI drivers, does the GSdx window show 99% all the time btw?
