Hello Pcsx2 forums, Thanks for all your hard work! It's really just amazing! Especially given I can run this at all on my ancient abacus of a computer, which is what I need help with today. I've read the recommended machine specs, but what I'm wondering is if anyone knows how I can get the best bang for my buck, could I scrape by with new graphics card, or a new motherboard with a strong processor, better memory, or do i simply need a whole new system. I can "play" God of war 2 at about 5 fps with it configured as follows:

Pcsx2 0.96.0
USA v02.00 Bios
GSdx 1351 (MSVC 15.00, SSE2) 0.1.15
linuzappz Iso CDVD 0.7.0
x2 Cycle Rate, INTC Sync, IOP x2, WaitCycles Sync

on a machine with the following specs:

Xp pro service pack 3 build 2600
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
2.024 Ghz Single core
Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600
128MB of RAM
mmx2, 3dnow, 3dnow2

Any replies would be greatly appreciated!
what kind of socket that use that cpu? the graphic it is AGP? How much bus it is suported by the motherboard?
for stable 50-60 fps in gow2 you will need a complete new system.

GPU is agp and CPU is socket 754 i think

and @ TS
you might want to try overclocking your cpu (get a cpu cooler, wont cost much), athlon 64 were awesome overclockers back then
I'd like to but I have a stupid usb keyboard and the usb driver doesn't load until after the command to press del to enter the bios! Ill barrow a different keyboard and try it out. so is it more important that I have processing power? cause a new motherboard with a corei7 extreme is only like 500

processing power is very important for emulation however i dont believe they make an i7 mobo with integrated graphics, so youd have to purchase one. this would probably require you to purchase a new power supply as well to support the card. most definitely you would have to get new RAM as im sure you only have DDR and i7 takes DDR3. that being said it would cost more than 500. but you should be able to purchase a decent LGA775 setup in that price range.
New system definitely. That being said I would suggest a C2D-based system because they are cheaper, and relatively new tech, such as the i7, always comes with a premium. Go for a C2D, nVidia 9600+ (I'd go with a 2xx series card if you can afford one) 4 gb of decent RAM (doesn't have to be DDR3 tbh), and a quality PSU that can handle the card.
You can purchase the following

1)m/b that supports c2d(and there is a great chance that can support a c2q also) and also ddr2 memory
2)graphics: nvidia 9600gt with 1gb memory is a great choice and also very cheap
3)ram ddr2 2gb or 4gb if you have enough money (i have 2gb and pcsx2 is running great and i don't have an i7)
4)new psu 500-750watt should be enough
