Prove of how each person configuration and luck is different.

For the record, I never have problem with ATI driver, ever. And I was quite an update junkie, getting anything released, official or not, installed in my system.

Nowadays though, I stick with what's working right, spare me the time and reboot needed, also avoid any possible issue I might get. Tongue
naoan, I could not tell it better Smile

the driver could work fine with everything else installed in the machine and I'd never know it had an issue with certain application... but it caught exactly the one I'm playing ATM. The only common feature both, the keyboard and mouse shares being both from A4tech X7 series, which still does not explain why it occurs only with that driver.

Edit: I was lucky the issue manifested immediately after installing the driver, else I would be until now trying to find the error in the mods load order, the game setup and so on (for example if I installed the game "after" the driver was already there or just started playing it again after a long time, with the driver already installed).

oops, time to quit hijacking the thread, but how the issue is driver related it may be useful to report the experience. so this post will go and be the last from me about the issue.
I always wait a few days with the new drivers.
I have bad experience with the dreaded 196.75 driver.
It killed my laptop gpu.
catalyst 10.8 drivers were made specifically to fix some issues with the g73 models due to issues with vbios causing gsod(yes, I had gsods) and it runs perfectly fine on mine. they literally tested the 10.8 drivers on several g73. You can find the issues on notebook reviews forums.

I suggest installing 10.7a. It runs better then 10.7.

no, thats absolute fact, ATI has had constant on/off issues with GSDX for all sorts of reasons.
Upgraded Myself to Catalyst 10.8 today and have not seen any difference in performance, it runs the same as with 10.7,
now there may be other variables on some peoples pc's but for me it did not change anything.

Oh and btw both manufacturers have their ups and downs with their drivers, there is no absolute...
Here is 10.7a

between 10.7, 10.7a, and 10.8, there shouldn't be much of a difference in any way. The beta however... I dunno, all I hear is that it has some interesting results. For me though, all drivers except stock and 10.8 = gsod. darn asus and their blundering.
ati catalyst 10.8 has full of bugs. it drop my framerate around 5-10 fps, also it has this black border bug with lcds. Sad
