There seems to be a rather serious issue with the trolley on Vedan: Myda as getting on top of it causes the screen to go black shortly after (the hud is still there, the player is just off world). Being near the trolley also seems to cause the players to wobble up and eventually wobble a bit too far, as they teleport over the world, on the top of the map's clip. Sometimes, going to the first area where the space port is makes the players fall back on the ground.

Unfortunately, tweaking with the emulator settings didn't solve this at all. It's not caused by a speedhack, nor it is fixed by changing the rounding/clamping of either EE or VU.

Any ideas would be welcome, as i keep praying i don't run onto this cursed trolley and it launches me off. I have attached a savestate for the NTSC version, SCUS-97490. It's in the middle of battle, but it's a very good place to see what i mean. SVN r5100

savestate here (mediafire)
On it.
Set the EE round mode to negative for this scene.
We'll have to see if that breaks some other spot in the game though.
I did set it on negative. I think it broke the attacking though by teleporting my character randomly when pressing X. If i'm not mistaken, the 'positive' and 'closest' settings cause the player to rapidly change direction even while standing.

If i encounter a similar problem somewhere, i'll let you know all i find about it.

EDIT: Actually, it seems this out of bounds glitch occurs only near/inside that tunnel, and the trolley might be a separate issue.
I have a similar problem : When you go on Vedan, near of Angela's bar, Jaster is teleport height, in the map. Impossible to come back on the ground =/.

Sorry if i done some mistakes in english, i speak french.
I get the issue as well, as far as I'm concerned it's unplayable as it is and I can't find a pattern for what specific events are causing it to occur. All I know is that riding the trolley through a tunnel will indeed black your screen.

On the other hand I've gotten the over the world glitch by:
*Opening a treasure chest.
*Three times while fighting a mimic in the very first 'problem area', it glitched through the terrain first and then everyone was glitched up there. (shouldn't have been collision, I was shooting it at range)
---Same problem didn't happen if I baited the mimic out into the middle of the area
*Touching a dead mimic (a different one from above)
*Walking through a tunnel (not one with train tracks, but the one that leads too a coastalish area)
*Having a monster spawn near me

Does anyone know how to hotkey save state and load state? Save scumming seems to be the only solution.
F1 save state F2 cycles the slots and F3 Load a save state.

btw I think if you change clamping modes and use another character to control the glitch will happen less
Not controlling Jaster in this area is a nightmare due to the barrier enemies and the problem still occurs even if you're using Kisala or Deego. Unfortunately that means you'll spend more time in the area using them than if you were using Jaster and there's an increased likelihood of triggering the glitch.

Anyways here's in interesting case as the problem seems to occur even if you're standing still (not collision based as some have suggested in various topics about this issue). Once the game decides to throw you out of bound you will go out of bounds. For example in one of my save states after opening a chest the game attempted to throw me about 15 seconds later (just standing still). So I loaded it again, rushed a save point, saved, and was fine for about 3 minutes then it started doing it again. Pulled up the menu while on the ground and it waited about 15 more seconds before trying to throw me.

Since that was interesting to me I tried using a save from before opening the chest just to make sure I hadn't accidentally triggered something sure enough even just standing around on the save point will eventually result in your characters jumping out of the level.

This occurs in both preset 3 (what I used in the game up til now with no real problem) and preset 1 (what I tried to fix the problem), in r5128. From what I've read the various clamping modes don't fix the problem and this has been known for years but I'll try various clamp/round myself to be sure of this.

Found this while running around with round set to nearest, clamp on normal. I could ride trains but was stuck on them when not inside tunnels. Just like it looks, if you walk into that you fall under the world, on the other hand I didn't get over the world bug once.

Not recommended settings if you like your characters to not jitter.

Setting round to negative instantly teleports you to the train station, you can only go back and forth using the train in this mode and the screen is filled with floor textures and black.

Settings round to positive, fixes the holes caused by nearest but you still get all kinds of movement difficulty including random jumps and standing on things you shouldn't be able to. The only real way to get around is by jumping in the direction you want to go as your character will always face the opposite direction from where you direct them.

I didn't notice any of the different clamp settings having any effect on any of the above.

Update: Went back to preset 1 then changed the VU0 and 1 to superVU while also enabling EEcache and the game became vastly more playable, haven't had any problems with the train or with going over the level. Not sure which of these fixed it or if both were required.
Clamping won't fix anything. Changing the preset values causes other weird movement issues like going the wrong direction, doing random things as if the binds messed up and snapping atop of enemies or throwable objects.

For what i remember from late testing, it appears the glitching occurs mostly in one specific area of the map, and the only way to get back down is going back to the train station where you came from. There's also another area nearby less likely to cause it, but it has happened as well.

The best way to move through that place is to avoid the trolley when it's going towards the train station. If you do, you'll be fine. And if you start wobbling when going towards there, turn back and use a teleporter instead.
