Hello everyone I have had my ASUS ENGT440/DI/1GD5 GeForce GT 440 (Fermi) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card for 3 months, yesterday the fan stopped working. I took it out and checked it for dust there was a tiny amount, nothing that would keep the fan from spinning. The fan moves with my finger fine, but when I play a game nothing no air from the exhaust no noise. I don't know what to do should I just send it in for repairs? Thank you.
Don't worry. Play Crysis, Battlefield, or StarCraft at the highest image quality possible and wait... until you hear BOOM!
I'm kidding. Use GPU Temp to check your graphics card temperature. Maybe the fan only works when the temp is high.
Pull the fan off the card and plug it into the MOBO (if it shares the same plug)? that way you can isolate the problem
I've been playing ps2 games and I can always hear the fan (it's loud). I don't know if the card shares the same plug and I don't wanna mess with the motherboard since I don't know what I would be doing. I'm thinking of sending it in.
Just send it in if the fan isn't working. Better to be on the safe side, you don't want to start any fires or anything.
Agree, it's bad to not have GPU cooled at all, especially in long term. Send it for repair.
Thanks for the input. I sent it in for repairs In a box with bubble wrap, I don't think the bubble wrap was anti static am I screwed?
not really - graphics cards are pretty tough, id be worried if it was ram or a mobo
besides bubble wrap is atleast all in one continous sheet so there isnt much movement, (for example) those packing peanuts of foam on the otherhand.... now that will give you greif with static

That's a relief, thank you.
