Totally wrong? PCSX2 is not distributing ANY copyrighted material (like BIOS) and is not using any copyrighted code.So what we are distributing does not need any permission. Moreover,it is free thus the authors are not making profit out of it.

Nothing illegal about that. I'll add an emulator can boost sales of current console games since many people enjoy playing games with the additional features of an emulator (save states,better graphics etc) thus buy games to play on an emulator which they wouldn't.

People that pirate games have nothing to do with emulation. You can play a legally bought game on an emulator the same way you can play an illegally downloaded one. Pirates will do their thing with emulators existing or not. You can play a pirated game on a PS2 as well as on an emulator. I can't see how emulation promotes game piracy.
